The need for temporary structures increases worldwide. a changing world requires new solutions and, we asked the question - what should a rapidly deployable refugee shelter look like? The studio has focused on the interaction between architecture and digital design as well as manufacturing. coupling robotic manufacturing technology with eps foam, the chosen projects oculus and _home challenges the barracks and tents presently used in refugee camps, and in addition shows what tomorrow’s architects can bring to the table in a pressing issue. In the winter exhibition at chalmers, seven competing entries were displayed. with the input from the organisation architects for society, all projects interpreted and analyzed today’s refugee camps, with particular focus on the context on the aataari camp in jordan. two projects were chosen to be built in scale 1:1: the prototypes oculus and _home.
